  • Scherzer has not been sharp his last few outings (but gets to pitch WC game @ 5:10pm in the shadows if it is a sunny day)

  • Muncy is out awhile, a week at least TBD

  • Kershaw is injured, out for the year probably

  • Bellinger is not Bellinger any more this year

Dodgers spent $280M on player salaries, TB $80M

Max isn't going to have 3 bad games in a row...he will pitch a gem. Does that relate to a LAD win, who knows.....

Price reflects the one game pretty significantly

Theyd be heavy favorites otherwise. They have the best team hands down

He might be dinged... he is great, don't get me wrong, but some of these players get dinged and they play anyway and are not themselves.

We shall see.

They would be favorites but not heavy .
They will still be + money to win the WS even if they win the WC game

How pissed are the giants to get the 1 seed and have to play a 100 win team (if the dodgers win on tuesday)

Didnt they used to have a rule that if the wildcard winner was in the same division as the 1 seed, then the wild card winner would play the 2 seed? Of course that probably happened when there was only 1 wild card team

The 37-year-old has been untouchable since joining the Los Angeles Dodgers at the trade deadline, going 7-0 with a 1.98 ERA, 0.82 WHIP and an 89-to-8 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 68.1 innings.

I realize the whole idea of the new wild card set up is to introduce more excitement, give a team a "chance" that would otherwise be "out".

BUT after 162 games, to put everything on the line, for one game, and, to boot, when the shadows in LA at 5:10pm might be a huge factor (if the outfield is sunny for 5 innings but the infield is in the shade) is not right. Game will be won on a bad hop, a broken bat bloop single, something like that.

Baseball playoffs SHOULD be a minimum 3 game series, even if all 3 are at the winningest home team. Sure the season is too long already, I get it, Bania. But, WTF?

I wonder if MLB would follow what the NBA did for its playing game where the visiting team would have to win 2 games in order to advance while the home team would only have to win once?

If there was ever a time to change how the playoffs work this would be the time.

The Dodgers a wild card team but yet in every other division in baseball they win by double digits outside of the AL East where they would still win by 6 games.

They should seed the teams based on wins.

NL would be

Giants 107
Dodgers 106
Brewers 95
Cardinals 90
Braves 88

Cardinals and Braves in a best of 3 and winner takes on Giants, while Dodgers play Brewers.

AL would be

Rays 100
Astros 95
White Sox 93
Red Sox 92
Yankees 92

Red Sox and Yankees in a best of 3 and winner takes on Rays, while Astros play Whitesox

That solves a lot of crap right there and if they want to put some kind of plus for a division winner in the first round, then give them home field for that round only but the higher seeds are home in best of 5 or 7.

You say the season is too long, they could shorten the season a week and it would end where it does now. Don't want to lower 162 games, no problems, get back to scheduling double headers. Hell they are only 7 innings anyway.

Don't want to schedule double headers then you have what you have now. Anything can happen in one game. It's not a tie breaker, it's an actual playoff game. Guarantee if Dodgers lose, then all hell breaks loose, not that it shouldn't happen with 90 win St Louis...….. just saying.

Both lines out now are pretty even so if you like either side it is a good bet

Brewers -145
Braves

Astros -130
White Sox

Any opinions on who and why
